Broadband

Highspeed connectivity has become absolutely essential. While Ferry County is a rural community, that does not mean that internet infrastructure isn’t a requirement. Sunrise is happy to host any broadband information from the Colville Confederated Tribes and Ferry County’s Broadband Action Team (BAT). While there is still continuous development, you can check out the established ISPs and see if they have coverage over your area. Also, be on the lookout for Drive-In Wi-Fi hotspots.

The Ferry County – Colville Tribes Broadband Action Team

The Colville Confederated Tribes (CCT) and Ferry County are in a remote, frontier location. County officials adopted “The Code of the West” in 2012 (Ferry County Resolution No. 2012-08). In other words, life in Ferry County is different than living in a city or populated area. Living in Ferry County means access to services and resources like broadband internet can be challenging.

To respond to these challenges, the CCT/Ferry County Broadband Action Team (BAT) was formed in April 2018. Economic development, public safety preparedness and response, and access to healthcare and education rely on a strong broadband internet connection for rural communities across the US. Increasing the quality of, and access to, broadband, and the implementation of a wireless broadband emergency management system is a widespread community goal for the Colville Confederated Tribes and Ferry County.

Vision: Public-private partnership(s) to make true broadband available along all routes and in populations centers throughout Ferry County.

Meetings: We currently meet virtually on the second Thursday of each month at 4:15 p.m. (PST).

Action Plan
